The Diocese covers the regions north of line from Greymouth on the West Coast to
Kaikoura in the east. The region boasts especially spectacular scenery including
the dramatic Kaikoura Coast with mountainous backdrop, the pancake rocks and blow
holes at Punakaiki, and the beautiful golden sand beaches of Tasman and Golden Bays.
The Diocese is divided into four regional deaneries; Mawhera in the west, Marlborough
in the east and Nelson and Waimea in the north.Of the 26 parishes found throughout
the regions, many serve the rural areas with scattered population and multiple towns.
However the Anglican Diocese still oversees large churches in the provincial towns
and a magnificent cathedral in central Nelson.
