School of Theology

A two-day School of Theology, focussed on the Mission of God, Thursday 30 September and Friday 1 October.

Good theology – feeding the vision with which we worship and serve God – is one of the key arteries through which the spiritual life-blood of the church flows.  We hope that many of our Nelson clergy and key laity can come to receive encouragement, challenge, and be extended.

The School of Theology begins mid-morning on the Thursday – 30 Sept. – and will conclude in the afternoon of Friday 1 October.  We are very pleased to offer an event which we believe involves a strong list of presenters, each addressing an aspect of theology around the theme of God’s Mission.

Professor Paul Trebilco (Prof of New Testament at Otago Uni) is one of our presenters, and he will also deliver a public lecture on Thursday evening, other keynote presenters are Rev Dr Tim Meadowcroft (Senior Lecturer in Old Testament at Laidlaw) and Archbishop Jeffrey Driver of the Diocese of Adelaide.

Further information about the School including a list of presenters, and the titles they are offering, is available on the BTC website www.bishopdale.ac.nz/news.htm

We believe that it will provide an opportunity to engage theologically with a rich and important topic for us, as well as give an opportunity to see what BTC is doing, and how.  Clergy and interested lay people should find the material accessible, but challenging and rewarding ...

* Holy Trinity Church, Richmond: Community Centre Fundraising
Holy Trinity Church, Richmond is fundraising to build a new community centre at the “Church on the Hill” to replace the aging and inadequate church hall.  In winter it is often colder inside the hall than it is outside.  After extensive consultation with all the church groups and hall users our Architects have come up with a project which has received universal approval.  It contains a large hall, meeting rooms, a tower room, and an upper office block for the staff.  Fundraising has been underway for a couple of years now and over $200,000 has already been raised.  The total cost is expected to be $1,250,000 and the intention is to commence building once $700,000 has been collected.
If you have a previous affiliation with our church and would like to assist with this project your donation would be very much appreciated.  Please contact Nicci Haley at the church office on 03 544 8844 or email church.onhill@xtra.co.nz.
More views of the project and associated events can be seen by visiting our website: www.holytrinityrichmond.org.nz and clicking on the Building & Fundraising Teams menu.
