On Saturday September 27^th we celebrate the 150^th anniversary of the establishment of the See of Nelson by Queen Victoria. As a consequence the fledgling settlement of Nelson became a city! Following his ordination as Bishop Edmund Hobhouse and his wife Mary steamed to New Zealand enduring the hardships of long weeks at sea. Mary stopped off at Sydney for dental work while Edmund continued on arriving in Nelson on February 18^th 1859.
