More about Susan...

Susan’s background includes working in various aspects of community work: Budget Advice, Senior Citizens, Life Skills, Crime Prevention etc. From 1992 – 1996 Susan worked from her local Baptist Church as a Community Worker. From 1996 to 2001 she worked for Kingdom Resources in Christchurch. Her work there consisted of volunteer recruitment, training and support for around 150 volunteers, service development, funding applications and staff management. In 2001 Susan moved to Westport with her husband and the following year she took on work with the Safer Community Council. This lasted until early 2004 when she began her current role.

Susan tries to live out her belief that all Christians are called to respond to God and to their neighbours. She has done this by acting in numerous voluntary roles in her local community over the years. Her belief that witness properly consists of evangelism and social action undergirds her passion to encourage the church working with the wider community.

Susan is a licensed Lay Preacher and her interests include studying (graduated with a BMin in 2005, now working towards a MMin through Otago), reading, movies, walking and spending time with friends and family. Susan is happily married to Kevin and their 3 adult children and one grandchild are based in Christchurch.
