Vision
“A Christ centred community
reaching out to our community.”
Ko te wehi ki a Ihowa te ako o te whakaaro nui; ko te ngakau whakaiti hoki e haere ana i mua i te honore.
Having respect for the Lord teaches you how to live wisely.
So don't be proud if you want to be honoured
Proverbs 15:33
Dear Friends,
This has been a delightful week in so many ways. A lot of you ask me how our 2 year old grandson Boaz is getting on so I thought you might like to hear about his latest act of mischief. For those who are new to the church Boaz was the recipient of a huge amount of faith filled prayer for a couple of years. As a result of God’s grace and marvellous medical help he is living a normal life after having extensive heart surgery.
Anyway, back to the story. Daniel and Elizabeth don’t have a lot of time for gardening so they were delighted to see a lovely blue lupin appear in their front garden. Boaz was delighted too. Such a good object to bash into pieces with his little chubby hands!
Daniel spoke sternly. “Boaz, don’t touch the lupin”. Boaz turned and ran inside and Daniel went back to his gardening. Next thing he turned around to see that Boaz had emerged from the house wielding a golf stick. He proceeded to whack that Lupin to shreds.
Daniel said, “Boaz I told you not to touch the Lupin!” .
Clutching the golf stick Boaz paused momentarily and said smugly :
“ME not touching the Lupin!!!’
Maybe he takes after his grandfather who is a very literal soul. Sometimes I think we are like that. We know what the Father means but sometimes we reason our way around it rather than submitting our desires and plans to his greater purposes for our lives.
Have you got an area of your life that God really wants you to cooperate with His plan in? Does he want you to tackle an angry temper, or to pick up your Bible and read it each day. Maybe you need to take things a little more slowly so that you can spend quality time with your family. Or maybe God is calling you to have a more ordered way of life. Whatever it is, you WILL know. Don’t drown out the still small voice.
God’s commands are his plan to set you free! Many blessings, Felicity.
Great news!
Christopher and Annie are now the proud parents of a second lovely daughter born on Wednesday morning. Congratulations to you both and you are in our prayers as Johansen and Joanna get to know their new sister. May this be a time of peace and joy for your family.
New Wine Hanmer Springs 2009 is the only spirit-filled South Island Christian holiday experience open to the whole church family. Following on from the success of our 2008 summer event at Hanmer Springs Forest Camp, we would love you benefit from Holy Spirit empowering and refreshing as you seek God’s Kingdom for 2009.
Speaking to the theme Holy, Kenny Borthwick from Scotland and John Hughes from England, together with our own kiwi speakers, will offer first class exposition, application and life changing ministry.”
New Wine Hanmer Springs will take place under canvas with powerful ministry for all ages. Accommodation is on site; in either various cabin situations or camping.
With 3 on site kitchens catering is over to you. Registration forms are on the back table. Come and join a large group of folks from the church who will be attending together.
We welcome Don Plumber today. Don is the International Director of Jin Hua , an organisation that places professionals in China. Alan and Christine Coussell are part of Jin Hua.
A huge thank you to those people who have been working extra hard to get the church alterations completed. This week Anne Biggs and Judy Bayard came in to help us reorder our furniture now that the kitchen is more functional. A great group of men have worked very hard painting the outside of the building and Alan Berryman has done a brilliant job with painting the inside parts of our renovation. I am constantly blown away by the selflessness and generosity of the people of this church.
Please pray for: Duncan who is away for a fortnight and has offered to pray for a number of friends who are suffering in quite serious ways. Pray that God would answer those prayers and that those prayed for would come to faith in God.
Please give thanks for a brilliant Victory Youth camp. Many young people deepened their commitment to the Lord and some made that commitment for the very first time. Thank God for the hard work of Sharnene and her team of leaders.
