‘New Every Morning’
A Documentary Celebrating the 150th of the Diocese of Nelson
‘New Every Morning’ is the story of the early pioneers of Nelson in the 1840s who laboured to establish both city and church in a new land. It traces the arrival of the first settlers, the hardships they endured and how their faith in God sustained them. It especially focuses on the Anglican Church and its first bishop - Edmund Hobhouse. His extensive travels, love for Maori and generosity toward the fledgling church are all explored – as well as his personal tragedies. Scenes from the 150th celebrations of the Diocese of Nelson shot in 2008 and 2009 are included to show how the Church has developed and grown since the early days. This story of adventure and courage in adversity will resonate with viewers today as people continue to seek meaning and hope. Interviews, reconstructions and archival material have been used to produce a documentary which will inform and inspire.
You can purchase this Documentary – ideal as a gift or sending to overseas friends – at the Anglican Centre, 48 Halifax St, Nelson. Cost is $20.
